Island Doctors Diabetes Awareness Weekend

On October 12th and 13th, Island Doctors will participate, sponsor, and co-host three events in Putnam and St. Johns County.  Saturday morning Island doctors will conducting complimentary screenings at the "St. Augustine Community Health Fair", (hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.), and Island Doctors will co- sponsor a community Surviorship Celebration with Florida Radion Oncologist Group (FROG) in Palatka.

Both events are from 10a until 2p. Island Doctors screenings will include all or some of the following: blood pressure, glucose, body mass index (BMI), and cholesterol.  Each location will be full of activities for those not being screened.  Two of the activities are "putt-putt for prizes" and the "wheel to your good health".  All prizes are health related in nature.

The weekend's festivites will end with an inspiring health message on Sunday morning at St. Paul AME Church in St. Augustine.  The message will be delivered by Readus C. Smith, III , CEO, Community Health Initiative.  Afterwards, Island Doctors will announce details to the launch of an additional health campaign, "Thinning is Winning."

The St. Augustine Community Health Fair will be on Saturday, from 10am-2pm at The Boys and Girls Club in St. Augustine (555 West King St.  St. Augustine, FL  32084).  The Surviorship Celebration will be on Saturday,  from 10a-2pm at Doctors Alley (600 Zeagler Dr. Palatka, FL  32177).  The Hour of Inspiration will begin Sunday,at 1045am (85 MLK Ave. St. Augustine, FL 32084).
