Dr. Hezekiah “George” Owojuyigbe graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Jos in Nigeria. From there, he proceeded to complete his non- traditional Osteopathic Internship in Family Medicine in 2008 at St John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, New York. He has also earned his Master’s in Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh and completed his training in General Medicine at San Geraldo/ HIMA San Pablo Hospital in Cupey, Puerto Rico.
Dr. George has over 15 years of experience in the medical and clinical research fields, both internationally and in the United States. For instance, he has served as an emergency room physician at various hospitals throughout Puerto Rico and a consultant clinical research monitor at Medtronic, Inc. in Minnesota, Kendle International in North Carolina, and Quintiles Transitional, Inc. in New Jersey. He has also taught as adjunct professor of anatomy and physiology at Essex County College and Merit Institute of Allied Health in New Jersey.
Prior to joining Island Doctors, Dr. George served as the Medical Director of the Columbia Correctional Institute (Florida Department of Corrections) in Lake City, Florida.
Dr. George is bilingual in English and Spanish and will be seeing patients at our Gainesville office.
