Dr. George Schroeder is a highly accomplished physician specializing in emergency medicine, urgent care, and biomedical research. He earned his MD from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and his Master of Science in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas at Dallas.

With over 33 years as a clinical emergency physician and 6 years directing emergency medical services, Dr. Schroeder now serves as Medical Director at North Florida Comprehensive Treatment Center (Acadia Healthcare), focusing on addiction medicine.

He holds multiple academic appointments, including Clinical Assistant Professor roles at Southern Illinois University, the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Orlando Health Sciences University, and Lake Erie College of Medicine (LECOM) in Bradenton, Florida. He actively mentors 3rd and 4th-year medical students through Island Doctors at our Ormond Beach locations.

Dr. Schroeder’s extensive leadership includes serving on Florida’s Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics Committee, the Executive Council of the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine, and the Board of Directors of the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine.

A recognized biomedical researcher, Dr. Schroeder has published 37 peer-reviewed articles and a textbook chapter in Blue Biotechnology. His research focuses on marine biopharmaceuticals, stem cell innovation, biosimilars, and marine toxins. He serves as an editor and advisor for several prestigious journals, including the Journal of Marine Sciences Research & Development and Frontiers in Marine Science.

Dr. Schroeder continues to advance the fields of urgent care medicine, addiction recovery, marine biomedical research, and clinical education in Florida and beyond.
