Dr. Felix McKenzie is an experienced and compassionate primary care physician with over two decades of dedicated service in both private practice and public health systems across Florida, Puerto Rico, Georgia, and West Virginia. His broad clinical expertise spans chronic disease management, internal medicine, preventive care, hospice services, and outpatient primary care.

A graduate of San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Dr. McKenzie earned his Doctor of Medicine degree cum laude and completed his medical internship at Hospital Auxilio Mutuo. His training included rotations in internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and dialysis care. His early commitment to hands-on care and clinical excellence laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for serving diverse patient populations with empathy and precision.

Dr. McKenzie has served in various leadership roles, including Medical Director for hospice programs, where he ensured high standards in symptom control, pain management, and end-of-life care. He also built a successful private practice in Puerto Rico, where he managed over 250 patients and served as an instructor for medical students. His work has extended to veterans through the VA Health System and underserved communities in outpatient clinics.

In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. McKenzie is a published health columnist and contributor to Salud y Familia magazine, covering a wide range of public health topics such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. McKenzie brings cultural sensitivity, clinical depth, and a patient-first philosophy to Island Doctors, where he proudly serves the East Palatka community.
