The Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is a stressful situation for everyone, but especially the elderly. This information can help you during the pandemic and we invite you to share this information with your elderly and high-risk patients.
Protect yourself from viral diseases by using these precautions:
- Avoid contact with people who have flu-like symptoms (i.e.-cough, fever, sore throat) – “Stay at least 6-feet away!”
- Wash hands often with soap and water – “Touching public surfaces is where the virus can come from.”
- Dry hands with a clean towel or air dry.
- Use alcohol-based sanitizers when soap is not available or inappropriate.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, with unwashed hands after touching surfaces – “Don’t transfer this virus into your eyes, nose, or mouth!”
- Clean and disinfect “high touch” surfaces often. Use cleaning agents that are usually used in these areas and follow the directions on the label. – “That’s where the coronavirus is!”
- For pain and mild fever use Tylenol, as directed. Avoid NSAIDs such as Aleve and Motrin/ibuprofen.
